'Fully Automatic' or 'You choose the settings'

Beginner cameras are designed to be used by beginners. They need to be simple to operate yet they must produce good quality pictures. These days we are very lucky to have the digital compact cameras. There are plenty to choose from and they are easy to use while producing excellent quality pictures.

In the old days, pictures had to be developed and printed. You had to wait for up to one week just to see your snapshots. The process was expensive and you never knew whether your shots would work out or not.

Today, you can see your shot instantly on the screen on your camera. You can download your shots to the computer and edit them with the cool editing tools. The only limit to the pictures you produce, is your imagination.

The beginner cameras are easy to use with features like red eye correction, smile detectors and motion detectors. You no longer have to focus or try to understand lighting or exposure settings as this is all done for you by the camera.

The cameras still leave room for the budding photographer to experiment with additional settings for effects. These can be a lot of fun but you don't need to worry if you find it daunting. There is the fully automatic settings for those 'must have' shots.

The best thing you can do when you get your digital camera is to read the manual while holding the camera. Check each part of the camera and compare it to the instructions. Become familiar with the feel of the camera and take lots of practice shots.

Take shots of everything and try all of the settings. It will cost you nothing. You can download the photos to your computer to analyze them. Find out what works best for the look you are after. Find out if the auto settings work best or if you prefer some fancy effects.

Spend a few days just playing with the camera. There's nothing you can do to hurt it. They are designed to be sturdy and reliable under most conditions. Don't be afraid to change settings and see what happens. Take thousands of pictures and really learn how your camera works.

It may pay you to take a course on photography. You can find free beginner courses on the internet. When you become familiar with photographic terms you may want to take a professional paid course. You may be happy with just taking snap shots at home. The versatile beginners cameras will see you through.
